Tips fragging wall frogspawn

I am thinking of fragging a wall frogspawn I have and am a little nevous about doing it. I have heard they loose about 1/2" around frag and require day logul's dips for a week. Any advise would be great to help with a succesive fragging.

I dont have one but interested in how this is done. Rubberband??

I would not rubberband them..
Walling Frogspawns and Hammers, can be very tricky to frag. IMO I would not attempt it without a bandsaw. They can be VERY touchy, and a cleaner cut will help reduce stress and heal time. Ripping the flesh(bone cutters and other various tools) will most likely lead to death of the coral. For Lugols I myself would not leave coral in a solution of it for over the period of time stated on the bottle. Maybe you can do multiple dips, 1 per day. I'm not positive. Fragging them can potentially kill them. So make sure you have the right tools, and water conditions.
GoodLuck!!

I did it several years ago with a dremel and would not recommend it. I had the coral out of water a long time and the rock was very thick so my constant cutting heated it. I was constantly having to dip it in saltwater to cool it. After cutting all the way around I used a screw driver to break the rock in half. Both halves did live in my tank. I took it to a friend and it died in his tank.

I don't know how yours grows, but mine encrusts and has buds. I think you could easily get one of those buds off and grow it out, but mine grows slowly. Somehow one must have come loose because I now have a decent head growing on a rock about 6-8" away from the colony.

Bandsaw is really the only way to go for wall LPS. Fragged a few wall hammers in the past. A quick clean cut causes hardly any damage and I never even dipped the frags, they healed very quickly with zero loss. Many LFS have bandsaws for fragging, and may be willing to let you bring in a coral to cut up, can't hurt to ask :)

What is walling and fragging? Lol I see it a lot and don't know what it is

Fragging is taking corals and breaking or cutting them to make smaller pieces to sell/trade/give away to others. There is no such thing as walling, we are referring to a type of frogspawn. As far as I know, there are 2 types. 1st is a branching type that makes new heads by splitting a current head and becoming brancing, kind of like if you splayed your hands open, the tip of each finger would be a new head. These can then be broken off at the base of the branch and sold or traded. The other type is a wall frogspawn. These are an encrusting type where the new frogspawn encrusts on a rock that is touching the current one or the current one and builds more of it's skeleton and new heads form on it. These are usually thicker types and require a different type of fragging where a dremel or bandsaw is needed.

Thanks! Just trying to learn!
