Tips on catching a sixline wrasse? If you suggestion is the one that works hes yours

I catch everything by hand in the dead of night, but i'm aided by having a small aquarium. If you have some spare acrylic to fashion a box to go around his sleeping hole...you could have the same benefit (no interest in the fish but good luck)

man... good luck I had to take every single rock out to catch mine, little bugger is as quick as lightning

Im sure thats the inevitable. I wanted to restack and still up the substrate. My only hope is that he doesnt hide in a single piece of dry rock.

I just had to catch my four-line Wrasse last week and after several hours, two nets and several smoke breaks I nearly threw in the towel. Then I read about a trap online...

Take a two-liter bottle of pop and cut around the top part right above the paper. Then, cut off the top of the bottle so that the top (spout) has an opening about 1.5'' wide. Invert the top piece and place it in the base. Squirt some food in the bottle and wait. It only took about 15 minutes for my wrasse to end up inside and there I was to gloriously get him out! :D

Edit: After re-reading my post, I didn't word it as well as I should. Here's a picture of what I mean, HTH! :)

I just caught mine out of the overflow. Took forever. Encourage him to go in the overflow. Just tell him not to go there , and he will.

that's the ticket! Although...doesn't work so well with coral banded shrimp.....i have a beast in my 90g....has taken out three fish in about 2 months.

I did something very similar to what jon suggests. except i poked a few holes in the bottle so it would fill up and empty quicker. put in some frozen rods food, tied a piece of string to the top of the bottle and waited.... then pulled it up and out as soon as the little so in so took the bait.

Why am i still up?

You've gotta be patient. I finally walked away and came back only to find my Manderin, Wrasse AND Black Tang all jammed in the 2-Liter. :lmao:

PS- Garlic suppliments (i.e. Food Booster) help a lot in situations like this by enticing the fish even more.
