Tips on how to stop a bully fish

:lmao: Indeed. I was referring to your experience with your LFS and the A. mata that you tried keeping. Liveaquaria is a far more reputable retailer than most. Their information falls in line with Fishbase and I find it to be rather useful.

But I get your point. They still are a retailer.

LA may be the most responsible retailer, of any product, that I've ever known.

Re: The Tang's aggression. I don't think these attacks are unusual at all. Regals are peaceful, for tangs; but he is probably the Alpha fish and is going to defend his territory. Any size tank is still a small box to him and he will use the scalpel that nature gave him when he feels the need. IMO & IME, this is perfectly normal behavior. The ocean is a vicious place and SW fish haven't been genetically modified into little vegatables, like guppies, for countless generations. Any tank will almost always have a dominant fish and they tend to like their position on top.
I wonder how many fish died because of the "Nemo" movie? I know a LFS that had people coming in every day wanting ti keep little Nemo in a goldfish bowl. This whole hobby (IMO) is aimed at duplicating the real reef. On the real reef, all fish fight for survival, even the "nice" ones.

LA is the most responsible and reputable online retailer IMO. Of course, double check all intended fish purposes with this forum if in doubt, but LA has great guidelines and info on their fish that most hobbyists and even B&M stores do not know.

Taking them out and letting the other fish settle have always worked for me. worked on a damsel that i was having trouble with.

The mirror sounds like a great trick.

you could always just throw a frogfish in there. ;).

Acclimation box helps determine how other fish will react to the new fish. Also adding small fish help if the larger fish don't see the small fish as a threat. How big is your tang? In a 125 it will be difficult to add any more fish that are 5" or larger. If you want other large fish you need more space.

I wish I could share with you a picture of my 45 gallon tank. Was wondering why 3 of my platys recently died well I discovered tonight we have a bully killer. Build him a jail trap with holes and am glad rest of fishies have come out of their hidings and are free from this bugger. I'll try taking him out in a few days to see if he continues with the bullying

live aquaria...... our reef central sticky is much better for tangs and list a regal ( hippo, blue , dori ect ) as minimum 8 foot 240 gallon.

if I do the mirror while the bully fish is in 'time-out' in a 10g tank, think it will eventually get sick of bullying and worth giving a 2nd chance in the DT?

female flame wrasse picking on another female flame wrasse.

Wow, that will be tough. Females are more aggressive to start with and two similar sized females is probably not going to work especially if the same species.
