tips on pruining Caulerpa Prolifera

Hey I added some Caulerpa Prolifera to my tank about a week ago. I am noticing some growth and was wondering whats the proper way to pruine it. Ive read that if its gets to choked together it will go sexual. To avoid this is to keep it thinned out. How do I thin it out? What do I cut? The actual leaves? The entire stem? Any info is appreciated.

We have a ton of C. prolifera in our 55g. I love it! But it does tend to get aggressive and go everywhere. When it starts to shadow the corals, I just snip off several inches of the rhizome - that horizontal piece that the leaves sprout off from - and take a bottleful down to my LFS. One of the employees there loves it because the fish don't eat it. Usually he'll trade me more-or-less equal volumes for brine shrimp, which is a pretty nice trade from my point of view.

Is it OK to snip it with scissors or a blade, or is it recomended to snip with fingers?

When I've snipped mine, I usually use scissors. The rhizome on my little forest is pretty tough - I'm not sure fingers would suffice, unless you've got some tough fingernails! You could try, though.
