I have a 2-3 inch sand bead in my tank the trouble is whereecvr the nem goes the clarks clowns excavate the sand aroung the foot leaving it exposed and so causing it to move. It is then in deeper sand and will stop moving for a week or so until the friggin clowns excavate the sand and we are back to square 1. The fish are a settled pair and I have real hopes that they will spewn soon but this is a constant distraction and I am also afraid that the moving will cause a rock fall and a squshed clown/nem.

The nem eats and is v healthy.

My yellow/tan one has been in the same spot for over a year now ( even with me selling off all the old rock and buying new ) ( see pic below ) . My Clarkii pair do the exact same thing with the sand -- though I will put it back -- however they can only move the sand right in front of it, and not the back or sides, so I don't know if that is helping or not.

would work short term but I would like a long term solution without putting more sand in and not having to put my hand in the tank so often(apart from the fact I get a savagesd hand when I do it)

My haddoni only moves when I have not fed it for a week or longer. It is on a food hunt.
Good luck,
Aaron
