To bubble or not to bubble.

I figured that if its just a few hrs in the morning that it could be due to ph fluxes. I tried changing the flow away from the nem for 24hrs w/ no difference.

If it was pH, how do you explain two bta clones with one of them bubbling up and the other having long tentacles in the same tank?

I don't know. That's a good question. I forgot about that one. Could I ask what you keep your magnesium levels at? I've never added mag supplements, but I do weekly water changes, so I figured they weren't needed.

55semireef, do you have any clownfish that host your bubble that always bubbles?
Nope, my RBTA is too small anyways for a clownfish to host in it. My pair of Clarkiis host in my Crispa. Are you starting to think that RBTAs that do not host clownfish will be more likely to bubble?

This is what my small RBTA looks like.

That is sweet. Once my saddleback started to host my RBTA, it lost its bubbles. Sadly, the clown started to host on day one and the nem lost its bubbles on day three. In my mind that is hardly conclusive, but a good start.

Still recovering from the split?

I turned off the ozonizer and it seemed to bubble up more than usual. I also moved it closer to the light and it stayed put since yesterday. I'll give it a day or two of intense light before I write that off as a cause. Its sitting 6" below my 150watt MH bulb under the glass top.

Yeah, you can still see just a touch of the bleaching on the tips, but still such a nice looking nem. I like the double bubble effect on each of the tentacles.

Here is a pic of mine the day I got it. You can see its also bleached a little around the base of the tentacles. That white area is now a solid green around the disc of the nem.

I just moved two, two year old gbta clones w/ocellaris host's that did not bubble from a 58 show to a newly set up standard 75. By day two in the new system both of them were completely bubbled. Over the period of about a week, they slowly retracted back to a long tentacle look, fwiw. Same lighting used on both displays (36" tek 6-bulb). It makes sense to me that flow might be a major factor for obvious reasons.
