To clip or not?

Alk swings in my tank caused a portion of the encrusted base of my Oregon Tort to die and turn white. The remainder of the frag looks good; color holding strong and polyps showing. I have my alk now under control and the frag has been in this condition for over a month.

The question is, will it start encrusting back over the dead tissue, or would it be better if I clip it and re-glue it on a new plug?

Thanks...

No it's a portion of the base, not tip. I would assume it would grow back over? I don't necessarily want to clip it, but I don't want to loose it. It appears to be doing ok and hasn't gotten any worse.

I still clip it anyway and re-grow them. I think it safer that way. It'll grow back in time and will worth the wait at the end. Good luck.

leave it man if its just an alk swing just let the coral re encrust over the dead part. if you want to be really safe you could clip a frag of it for insurance but i would just let it be.

Leave it be ! Had corals stn many times over the seven years keeping sps and they always comeback. That's if you can keep your tank somewhat stable.
