To cut or not to cut

I have a couple of acro's that now have tips with the tissue missing from and issue I have now corrected and everything is back to normal. My question is should I cut off the bad tip or just let them be. My problem is the tips continue to grow algae and have to be blown off daily to keep algae form forming on the tips.

Why stress it more? It will be ok.
Sounds like you need more of a cleanup crew? Or are you not carbon dosing to address the nutrients being pulled by the algae?

I purchased a acro from diver den about 2 months ago, it came with some dead tips, it quickly got algae on them. I trimmed it and it healed nicely.

come across this post of which I am also wish to ask whether I have to cut or not to cut my Acros that RTNed not on the tip of the branch but the main truck itself (below the branches). in the past, when STN occur on the tip of the branch, I just cut it off and it stop further STN but now its on the main trunk wherein each different branches budding out.......so , should I cut it and glue to other live rocks or just leave it that way.

By the way, I have 2 suspect for recent RTN....
1) MY FLOW (as those acrod with RTN are not directly hit by the flow from my MP 40wes)
2) Lights: I have re-adjust now the lights to running my 2 Kessil A360WE at 76% color and 80% Intensity for about 6 hours out of the 12 hours lighting period.
3) Biopellet : I still checking if this is the culprit as some friends of mine asking me to removed my biopellet reactor but I hesistate to do it, as I am worries my nightmare on night nutrient will be reappear.

my Alk stay at 8.3 dkh and rest of the water parameter are just wihing ACCEPTABLE limit.

cheers,

MD,

I usually try to correct the underlying problem when getting STN at the base and hope the coral stabilizes. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If it continues to recede especially moving into a main convergence of branches I will cut above the STN and remount those frags...

I really hope to corrected the problem and save the frags without cutting anything , hopefully I can find out the problem. I will first adjust the flow after i stabilizes the lights and see if it improve , if not , then I have to cut it but I hope it will not damaged the frags since that part I am cutting this time is the main trunk , perhaps the branches will spread apart after the cutting.

My personal experience: if I have that level of STN I'll cut the branches and glue all of them in a new piece of rock, nearby each one. They will encrust and you get a new colony again. Cut on the healthy tissue.
