To Fuge or not to Fuge, that is the question

Currently, I've got a 55g reef tank. In a month or so, I'll be upgrading to a 120gand I'm considering getting a refugium. I've read a lot of mixed opinions on it, but nothing definitive. So, should I get one? If so, where to put it, inside the sump, or hang on back?

What mixed reviews did you hear. I can't imagine that you heard anything negative. I'm a believer in them. IMO the more natural types of nutrient transport the better. Any amount of macro will assist in transport. Obviously the bigger the better. If you are planning on an upgrade to a 120g then a 40g breeder tank will make a great sump. If the section are split up effectively you can end up with a good size fuge section that will more then meet your needs.

That is one of the purposes for having a sump. If your going to have a fuge (which most people try to if they can) the sump is the perfect place for it. (Assuming you have a big enough sump)

I love mine and spend a lot of time watching the life in it. Adds to the overall ecosystem.

My reason for not having a fuge is

1. Not enough space
2. Don't want algae growing all over other equiome from the light. The prefer my sump dark.
