Ok i have a 75 gallon reef right now. I have a purple tang 3 cardinals on algae blenny a mandarin goby and two clowns. I am setting up a bigger tank and it should be ready in a couple of days. I ordered online a orange shoulder tang a naso tang and a 4 anthias and a butterfly fish. Will all these fish be ok in the 75 gallon tank for a couple of days? Or should i just set up another tank with a power filter for a couple of days to hold the new ones?

I would think a major fight will break out with the purple tang and at least one of the new arrivals. Best to quarentine them anyway, before exposing them tot your other fish. I would ask the seller to hold them, until my larger tank was ready or close to ready.

That is gonna be an awful lot of bioload to toss into the new tank also. If I were you, I would go buy a few used or new if you have to 20g longs and at least a 55gallon to quarentine the tangs in. I would seperate the butterfly during quarentine, b/c they can be more shy and delicate and a calm quarentine tank is best to get them to eat. The anthias could probably go in with the butterfly for quarentine purposes.

FWIW, tangs are noted for carrying and developing ick. Placing them in a community tank, without quarentine is a very risky proposition. I really think you moved a bit too fast, wehn you ordered those fish and would ask the seller to hold them. Sometimes I offer them a bone, maybe $50.00 a week to hold them, while you get some things set-up. If you have to tell them you are going out of town for an unexpected event, do so. You aren't eqipted to get all those fish right now and even if you had the bigger tank, you can't just toss them all in at once and hope for the best. Ideally all new fish will be quarentined for 6 weeks at least, before introduction to a community or a tank that will be a community. Also, 1 large fish or a few smaller ones, is all the additional load a tank should be subjected to at one time, so those fish should be introduced one every few weeks to the new tank, after it has cycled and the fish are completed quarentine.

I am not preaching at you. We all jump the gun sometimes and rush ahead of ourselves. I am only giving you the advice I would want in your situation; that is the truth and what is going to best for your livestock. Good Luck and don't tell them your granmother died or anything!LOL
