can you have to much? i have zero p04 and n03 yet my cheato still grows at a fair rate, i have a 5x2x2 display tank with a 48x18x20 sump which is nearly all rammed with cheato, if the p04 and n03 is undetectable, what else will the cheato remove from the water, i'm having a few probs with some sps being very soft and stn at the base's, all major params check out good, so am thinking about maybe the minor trace elements may be too depleted? what do you guys think?

stn at the base of the sps I think is likely to be inadequate light from shading. Not an SPS expert though so not sure.

Too much cheato if the tank is stuffed with it, it wont be getting lit well, and flow could be an issue as well. Keep it pruned and it'll grow better for you.

agreeing with graveyardworm:

I think if your stuffed with chaeto, it won't receive adequate lighting and circulation for optimal growth...

...beyond this, I don't think there is any real issue involving any neative effects resulting from too much chaeto overgrowing any available nutrients in the system (given a sufficient water change schedule) ... I imagine any depletion by overgrowth would tend to be "self limiting"...
