hey,

i am planning on buying a teklight t5 fixture....it will be 8-54w. this is a total of 432w.

i know that i can keep any clam or sps anywhere in the tank with it.
is this to much light for softies that i like??

i would like to be able to keep anything without having to worry about lighting problems.

if this is to much light for softies and lps then what light should i get that will let me keep everything?

thanks in advance

I would suggest that if you go with T5 lights a 6X54 would be suuffiecient. Softies would have a problem with that much Iam sure. Plus it would save ya some cash.

I would go with the 6 bulb hit as well. I think you would be fine with the 8 bulb, but I am not sure if it will fit over either of your tanks. If I remember right you need about 2.5 inches per bulb, so at 8 you are looking at 20 inches of width which is two more than your 75g. Softies will do fine under bright light IMO, just mount them lower in the tank. :)

thanks alot for the responses!

now if i go with the 6-bulb(this will make my dad very happy) will i be able to keep all sps and clams like before??

thanks

I have the 4-bulb on my 75 and my clams have shown Awesome growth. Even my Crocea. I have 4 clams in there right now......Maxima, Crocea, Squamosa, and Deresa. By the way all of these are on the bottom. All seem to be doing awesome. I have a few soft corals in there but i just have to keep them neer the bottom or they close up a bit. With the six i think you would be set for acros and clams. But even 4 will suffice.

wow t5's really must give out alot of PAR. (i thank sanjay for that since he explained it very well at my club meeting).

so i believe im going with the 6-bulb.

thank you all very much!

now next prject is What bulb coniguration do i go with??

i want to be able to have a dusk dawn affect.

thanks
