well, i have had my little regal now for about 6 months and it is healthy, active and eats like a pig. every so often a one, two or three little ich spots show up on it. As quick as it comes, it disappears. I am moing my tank over into a larger tank and am wondering if i should treat this fish or keep on keepin on. Only one perc clown fish had a couple spots about 6 months ago and thats it. All other tank mates (royal gramma, yellow tang and 2 perc. clowns) have all been fine. I have read a few conflicting opinions on ich and the treatment just wondering what i should consider for this situation.

hello neelio,

Well what you are seeing is the life stage cycle of this parasite. It will host on your fish, fall off them breed again. Of course, it is entirly up to you want you want to do.

living with a chronic parasite IMO does not make for good marine husbandry, but a lot of people do have ich in their tank and do nothing.

There are differnt ways to treat it that just take effort on your part. Hypo/copper (but not both) a fallow tank are things to consider.

Best,

HB

So shall i treat the bunch or just the one regal before i flip to the new tank? Thats kinda my dillema- treat one or all? and if i treat all im gonna have a ***** of a time with over crowding in my QT tank.

yep, treat all the fish or else your effort will be for nothing. also leave your display tank empty for 50 days. no fish and the parasite starves out.

and yep, family forums means no bad words.
