Toadstool babies ready soon......

O.K. all, on Tuesday I finally picked up enough rubble LR to tackle the task of fragging our giant toadstool leather. I have 60 baby toadstools in the tank now healing and attaching to the LR. I would guess they will be ready to go in 2 - 3 weeks. I will be asking $5 and $10 for them depending on size.....most are $5. I will also have some more colt coral frags by then for $5. This is a cousin to Kenya tree coral but is a little different. If you are interested you can PM me or reply on this post to get on the list. I have pictures from the very first frag in my gallery a couple years ago to get an idea of what this coral looks like. Anyone who has gotten them from me before please feel free to pipe up. I'd love to see any pics of them too to see how they are doing. Thanks.
 
Well auntdeb I did get two from you. One I auctioned off at the last meeting it was about 5" round when fully open and my other one was a little smaller but unfortunatelly it died late last week :(. I would love another one.

Count me in for 1 toadstool when they are ready.

Maybe the clowns will host in that instead of my brain.

widefx....what on earth took the chunks out of that? Strange. Nothing has ever messed with ours like that.

Looks like there are 8 spoken for so far. We'll post a list to keep track soon.
 
Once they attach and take shape they will probably range from about the size of a nickel to silver dollar size. Then the polyps get about an inch long when extended. Depending on lighting they usually look golden. Under the actinics and moonlights they look greenish.
 
When leathers start to rot like that carefully brush off the decaying tissue in a pail of tank water. Then give it a lugol's iodine dip for 20 minutes. Place it back in the tank in high current. 9 times out of 10, this will save the coral.
 
Please put me down for 1 toadstool, as well. Saw the gallery and that Fiji Yellow is one of the best I've ever seen. Any chance of that ever getting fragged? If so, put me down! BTW, what was the lighting on those?
 
Please put me down for 1 LG toadstool frag, and 1 LG Kenya tree if they have different sizes. When are we picking up?

Some of the babies are already attaching to the live rock so they will start taking shape. I'd like to give them one more week before I start pulling them out. If you want to come sooner for them you can they just won't 'look' like a toadstool yet. If you don't mind that and want to come get them please pm me and we'll make arrangements. Thanks.
 
pupfish, the fiji needs to get a little bigger before I will frag it. They are more sensitive to that so I'm waiting for it to be plenty big enough to recover. I'd like to get a dedicated frag tank set up before I do that one too. If and when it happens I will put you on the list for one.
