Toadstool falling apart

I have had a toadstool coral for about 5-6 months now its about 5" wide when open and it has been doing really well. I get good PE and once the lights come on it opens up real nice.

A few weeks ago I noticed a small hole near the edge of it. I was monitoring it and the hole slowly became a slit and grew until a small chunck, about the size of a nickel but thicker, came off, still with the polyps out. I removed the piece because I didnt want it to rot in the tank and poison everything.

Today a much larger piece came off. The toadstool still has good PE but it looks like there are a few more pieces that will be falling off soon. Should I pull it out? What should I do with it? i really like it but i do not want it to nuke the tank.

6x54w T5 bulbs are 8 months old, they will be replaced in July
