Toadstool help needed please.

Hello,
My toadstool has been laying down for a whole now, and has started changing at the base. It Almost looks like something is growing out of a hole that has formed. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I've had this leather for years and have never seen it do anything like this.

Looks like it is trying to move. Parts of the base will be left behind and develop into 1 or more offspring.

From the amount of polyp extension and coloration, it looks healthy.

Have you changed the lighting or flow in the past 3-6 months?

Another possibility is that bristleworms (or other things) have burrowed into the stalk.

I have changed the bulbs in the last 3 months, but I don't remember if this started before or after that. It does extend the polyps most days.

It might just be splitting as well, sometimes they leave pieces of their base behind, some drop from the cap, others just seem to sprout and separate. My toadstool is moving now, and he's not leaving any chunks behind.

To follow up on Bulls post about pests would be a good idea though, go in at night with a red flashlight and see if you can find anything check a few days, also check well during feeding times, some pests come out to feed. Leave no rock unchecked if you see strange things!

Oh! Also, I just happened to remember since mine had it, if any debris settles on a spot and it can't get rid of it soon enough, it will bore a hole through the soft tissues, take a baster and baste him a bit and see if any debris gets tossed off. He may not like it and might close up for a bit after.

I'll get the red light out and check it out. It seems that it is tearing now, so whether it's moving or splitting or what, I guess I will find out soon.

It keeps getting covered with what looks like red algae. Not sure if it is in fact algae, or just slime shredding or something, but the hermits like to eat the red stuff.

Sorry, I just realized that I had replies. :/

I have not added anything recently, and haven't seen anything eating it. It's torn more now, so I'm just watching it and thinking that it's splitting. I'll try to post another pic.
