Toadstool Leather - Could I get the color back?

I have several toadstool leathers that are from my dads tank. They are about 10 years old. They are brown, and have been brown for many years but I think they originally had green polyps.

They have had low light for many years, and from what I have read this can remove the color. I believe this is caused by an increased amount algae trying to catch every sliver of light because of all the time in low lighting - anyone know if this is accurate?

When I upgrade my lighting, will the color come back in time?

Thank you!

I'd say to get in high light, more flow. I know this is true for yellow leathers and I have a dwarf deepwater green toadie that likes all the light it can get.
