A little over two weeks ago I placed a new green toadstool In my mixed reef tank. It didn't open for a couple of days then opened and looked great. This lasted about five days.Then my new green closed up & seemed to shrink .Then my brown closed andwill not open.The brown now looks shiny & still won't open. I have done water changes even though water quality seems alright.I'm worried !!! New test kit on the way.CAN anyone help me out?? I would hate to lose the brown had it over a year an is as big as a dinner plate.

When a toadstool leather turns shiny / waxy, that typically means it's about to shed. Beyond that, it's hard to say what else is going on without more info.
Any other recent additions?
Notice anything irritating / picking at either of them?

I think I found my problem.Hope it's not too late. I ran out of test kit wnen my toadstool decided not to open up. So the first thing I do is start to change about 5 gallons every other day. I sarted to get algae on my toadstool even after it shed. I increased water flow an more water changes.Still no luck.Just found out today there was a problem with the city water. My RO DI unit couldn't handle it. The city fixed their problem & I installed new elements in RO DI unit. HOPE good water changes will work now
