toadstools and torches

currently i have my toadstool pretty close to my torch's. My torches are doing awesome, fully open and blooming.. just look great. But my toadstool is miserable looking.. it never opens and is almost always bent over.. it's pathetic.. could location to torches be causing the problem?.. (i suppose it i could), has anyone had a similar problem that was solved by moving them?

Torches have sweeper tentacles that are pretty aggressive. The results you describe would be common if the toadstool is in range.

I too have toadstool close to a torch but not close enough to touch. The torch has a very powerful sting... mine toppled over during a reorganization and just 'touched' 3 SPS corals. All three had polyps burned and destroyed where the torch touched them, REALLY surprised me how fast they got 'burned.'

The toadstools will close up from time-to-time to shed their skin. I have a green toadstool that's been closed for THREE weeks. I blow it gently with a turkey baster every couple of days and two days ago the outer membrane finally peeled off... now it's starting to extend again.

So, if the two are far enough away that they aren't in contact, then the toadstool may just be shedding.
