Toby puffer

Hey, I have a blue spotted toby puffer that has been acting really weird the last few days. His color is fine but he doesn't look like he's doing very well. It almost looks like he has a air bubble and a discoloration on his stomach. Currently I have him in a QT. He is spending almost all of his time swimming right at the surface, which he doesn't normally and he will spend a lot of time in a stomach up position and then go back to right side up. He also has not eaten, when usually he is a pig and he has a much lesser sense of direction and movement than normal.

Any idea of what the problem is? Or of what I could do to help him?

I have a PB Tang that does something similar if I feed him too much Nori. Some sort of intestinal problem I think. What I do is put him in a small trap near the top of the tank so he can R&R for a few days until he's acting normally again and then I let him out. During this time I only feed him peeled boiled peas. Supposedly that relieves the bloating. Give it a try, it works for me.

I will try feeding him peas and see if that helps, he does not look as if he is doing well... A lot of times with I look at him he will be just letting the current push him around... But he is still swimming a little bit.

The peas unfortunately did not interest him at all. And neither does any other food. He is not spending most of his time stomach up and the infection on his stomach has only gotten worse. I fear the worst is coming for him.

Feed peas to a puffer? They are great tang food, though.
