I have seen that kind of parrotfish in the wild. I have also hooked it on my handline. They make good barracuda bait

I read that the eradication of the parrotfish is one of the main reasons fro the decline in the Caribbean reef systems. it seems they are quite delicious to eat.

The locals eat them here, along with tangs, wrasses, groupers or whatever. you see them here all the time munching away, fine silt coming out the other end.

i think whats interesting is five different species of tangs, all running in a group.

Here parrotfish have Ciguatera so you can't eat them. They make me mad because I cant spear them. They get huge

What you read is more in the Bahamas and Caribbean islands. Where booboo is at. Here in FL it's illegal to basically touch them lol. It's prohibited to harvest them.. Regarding it's meat, I don't like it. I do eat only the good fish though lol. The meat is very chewy and i'm not into that. I've tried it before because here they import it from different countries. Very cheap to buy, at least in this area. Don't know how they can eat tangs lol they are too small. you can barely get fish fingers with that lol

They get huge here too. since they know we can catch them they allow us to get right next to them. So to mess around I get close and poke them with my spear lol

Parrotfish fact- They eat corals and rocks and their digestive system turns it into sand. So sand is basically parrotfish poop. Next time you are at the beach think about all the parrotfish poop you are stepping in you are welcome
