This project is just getting under way so not much going on yet..But I was informed by my better half that this is my final build though lol..

The plan..Will be a mixed reef with a good mix of sps,lps and reef fishes..The sump will be in the basement,40g sump with a 30g refugium and a 40g breeder as a frag tank all tied together..

Tank..Marineland 200 Deep Dimension with 2 corner overflows 48"x36"x 27" 285 lbs.empty and about 1785 lbs full ..I didn't go with the Starphire glass I am busting the budget with this build as it is..

I like a blacked out back panel so I got some of that limmo tint and slapped that on the back, works like a charm..

Stand..Nothing special home made job that is build for strength rather than looks, but the guts of the stand will never be seen anyway, there will be a black cloth skirt wrapping the whole stand..

For sand I am going back to my favorite,CaribSea black Tahitian Moon sand.

Is this a 42nd B-Day present to yourself you old fart? I'm right behind ya. 42 in October. Looks like We'll have fairly similar set ups, internally anyway. 2x250s, T5s, 2xMP40s.

Are your Vortechs going to be on the back wall or side panes? What do you plan for your return line configuration? What return pump will you be using from the basement? Head loss?

Any thoughts on aquascape?

Sorry for the round table discussion. Just excited to see another fan of Double Ds....er...I mean 200DD tanks.

hey Cully, yep mid life crisis present for myself lol..

I do not have any experience with the Vortechs at this point, but as far as I can tell one will work as a slave off the other..I am putting them on the side walls.

With the two stock loc-line returns the tank came with,I am planning on pointing them right down the back wall to get some down flow and then a Koralia at the bottom of the tank parallel to the back wall to pick up the detris..This is the plan, who knows if it will work the way I hope lol

For return from the basement sump it will be a single 1" pvc six feet straight up and will separate at a tee to feed each return line to the corner over flows..I have a few mag 9.5 pumps so I will try to use one to feed the display and another to feed the fuge/prop tank..I may need to get a larger pump for the return to the display, but I hope not lol..what is this head loss you speak of,sounds like something I missed lol..

aquascape..The black sand with 3 live rock spires going almost all the way to the surface to build off of..that is my only plan so far..

I will post some more pictures as things advance..It is hard to see the hugeness of this tank from my crappy pics,It make the 120 sitting next to it look like a fish bowl lol,Cully how is your build coming along??

everyone please..please ask questions or give advice, all is well taken :)

Totally agree. Only way to gain perspective on how huge these things are, is first hand. Big tanks!

Picking up some glass today to finish sumps. Love to have water in it by end of the week.

Planning a rock slide type aquascape from rear right on out toward front left. Wanna provide an open expanse of a platform on which corals will grow upward. Other reason is, my MP40S will be on the back wall. I want there to be a big open area above the rocks and corals that I can barrel roll as a gyre.

hey todd........i was just looking forward to helping you out.....kind of to repay your for all the help you've given me to understand this hobby better and how to do it up .....the right way. oh well......another day i guess.....lol I cant wait to stop by and see it all done!

Just a heads up. I had an issue with some fabric being a little close to my sump and essentially soaking up water and slowly dripping it around. I didn't notice it for a while since it was so small. Just an FYI. Enjoy
