Tokina AT-X 124 PRO DX Lens?

Hi,

Have any of you used the Tokina AT-X 124 PRO DX Lens 12-24mm lens?

I found them new for $400 and have been thinking of getting it to take full-tank shots. The exhibits I want images of are 4'x4'x4' and it is difficult to get everything in focus, so I'm hoping the increased DOF on an ultra-wide might help.....I had been looking at a fisheye, but the distortion, while "artsy" just isn't what I'm looking for.
My walking-around lens is a 18-200 Nikon VR, will the extra width at 12mm versus the 18mm make a big difference? There isn't much difference between say, 90 and 96mm, so I'm hoping that the scale isn't linear...

I owned the Canon version of that lens and really liked it. Yes, 12 vs 18 is quite a big difference.

Well,

So: I got the lens, very easy to use, anything over a few feet away is in focus - always! What I'm doing is photo-documenting the public aquarium that I curate prior to its complete renovation. That way, we'll have its history archived in some fashion. Here is an early image, just a hand-held snapshot, but it meets my needs:

Note: the extension cord running out of the upper window to the porch, and the two drain gutters are really distracting to me - but are both a result of why we need to renovate this building, they are "quick fixes" for building issues.

Very nice! I have heard great things about that lens! It is definitely on my wish list! Although I will probably go with the version II.

nice shot! indeed it looks sharp and I've heard good things. Darn! now its time for me to go out and buy the pentax clone!
