Tok's Red Sea Max 250

Hello All

My name is Tok and I've been in the fish world longer than I can remember but still consider myself a Rookie, starting with a gold fish bowl I moved from breeding freshwater to marines and now I'm the proud owner of a RSM 250.

I took on the RSM 250 as a reward for keeping a Tropaquarium 88 (130 Lt) going for 3 years on nothing more than a canister filter and some modification to the lighting. It was a great tank until all the occupants out grew it.

I had my reservations about buying the RSM knowing that not all was well in the early stages, but now that time has moved on and Red Sea have listened to the masses I thought I'd give it a go. After all if I can run a tank on a canister filter for three years this should be a walk in the ocean.

I promised my better half that if I did this upgrade I'd add nothing to the RSM and give Red Sea the benefit of the doubt. So this is it......

This is what I had for three years.

And this is what I upgraded to over the last few years...

Thanks for looking.

Wow!! That tank is amazing!
Couple of questions: How long have you had the lion? And what is he bright purple and pink fish in the 5 th photo? It is just under the anthias and just up and to the right of the yellow tang?

Thanks Whiterabbitrage, I'v had the Fuzzy for about two years, and he is doing great.
The other fish you are referring to is a male Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)

Hope this helps

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm proud to announce that my tank was featured in the "Practical Fishkeeping" magazine.

I'll be providing you all with a full update and pics of my tank soon.

Well finally the long awaited update"¦"¦

I had to sadly give my Fu Man Chu back to my LFS as he was not eating anything I put in front of him whether it was live shrimp or frozen. I did not want to see him die of starvation.

My fuzzy is still doing great and seems to think he can eat anything, it's quite amusing watching him eyeing out the tangs. As you can see from the latest FTS I'm starting to get the hang of keeping Acros and they seem to be doing well for the time being. Although changing out the lamps every 6 months is a great help. I've started to grow Coralline algae on the back glass in the hopes that my Monti will take to it and start to spread. This should look great in a few months' time.

I've also decided to start feeding flake food in small amounts on a daily basis. The only reason been is that my tangs are looking a little like Lindsay Lohan, skinny and pinched in the face.

My bull's-eye shrooms packed their bags and hiked to the rear of the tank in the hopes of getting away from the anemones every annoying tentacle's, and so too are my Duncan's getting a little peed of with them. But all in all things are looking good in my under water kingdom and the less I interfere the happier the tank is.

Morning sunlight hitting the tank....
