Tomato bins

Sorry Ted, I have been looking for them for a while as well and they dont seem to come around easy.

Tomato bins are about 220g in size. I think they are made of polypropelene. They are food safe (tomatoes are shipped in them), rigid containers that wholesalers and some retailers use to hold aquarium stock, etc.

I want to use one as a sump and one as a refugium on my system.

The “common” name in the industry is MacroBin, which is derived from the primary producer MacroPlastics. Add a dot com at the end of their name and you can see what the make. Unfortunately, off the top of my head I don’t know where you’d round one up.

Not sure what it's called but I have a grey and a white one. The white I think is food safe and the grey isn't. Also if you go with these you should give it some extra support on the underside with some wooden blocks.

Here's a pic of the white one a few months back being used for storage.

You'll notice that the layout of support is not the same as the picture I linked. But it is their product since their name is molded into the bin.

Ted Seascapes has 2 of them in the bathroom, I think the new owner wants to get rid of them. Theyre drilled for bulkheads already (some in strange places I believe..) swing by and talk to Young. (good luck!)

Ted, if you decide to get one that is out this way (Carson or Fullerton) I can pick them up for you and bring them to a meeting if you need me to.
