Tomatoe/Ocellaris breeding!

Atticus --- surprizingly no they didnt go after the fry!
h20joe--- i still have the 8 left. No die offs sense the first night! I think there about to go thru metamorphisis. There getting darker :)
121-- I have several clowns in the tank. 3 oscellaris and 1 totatoe. I got the tomatoe id say 3 years ago and it was maybe an inch long. The Oscellaris came at diferent times and the Tomatoe wouldnt let any of them in her RBTA herem ( 7 or so). Papa was persistant for a few weeks and was finally allowed to share the RBTAs and then one day there were eggs. Ill have another hatch this Friday or Saturday :) Hopefully ill be able to get more fry out of the tank this time around. Im going to make a fry snagger in the next few days :)

Leaffish75 here is a whole thread i have going on seahorse.org with some pics :)

wow this is the craziest thing I have ever heard of!! Great Job, keep the babies coming! hopefully one day we can all own one, thanks to you!!

Vert20 if your still watching this thread how long do you leave the tank in darkness before you turn the light on by the larvae snagger? I just made myself a snagger in anticipation of my hatch tommorrow night (8 days) or Saturday night. They went on day 9 last time :)

Anyone interested in an update i still have 8 :) Ill try to get a new pic up in the next few days. Looks like there slightly starting to get some color :)

Heck yeah we are intrested!! I wanna see some picks of the babies with color, its just amazing to see them grow isnt it! Keep those babies alive!! :bum:

just taggin along

I thought you couldnt mix diff types of clowns in the same tank?
I have a seabe (about 4") and would love other clowns. Any advice?

Keith sure thing :)
X88- Im by no means an expert but i can tell you that my tomatoe and the oscellaris didnt get along for the longest time. I have 3 other Oscellaris in the tank and the Tomatoe wont let them anywhere near "her" side of the tank. Maybe someone else will chime in with more experience.

As for an update i have 7 and am expecting a hatch either tonight or tommorrow night. I built a larvae snagger and hopefully ill be able to get more fry out with this :) Lights go off in 15 minutes :)

Well they didnt hatch last nioght so tonights the night! Atleast i caught some amphipods with the fry snagger so i know it works :) It was a good test run :)

They hatched and i have ALOT of fry :) The fry snagger worked flawlessly!! Its so much better than me trying to scoop them out! Id guess i have several hundred fry :)

Way to go!!! Glad that snagger worked well for you! It has always done well for me!

Get these guys through Meta so we can see what you have been cooking up with this pairing!

Thanks so much for the visuals on the snagger. I actually taped a LED to the tank and plugged it in when i turned the lights off and it worked great! My older ones are starting to get some color to them. More like a tint but its coming in :) Ill have a pic of one of them tommorrow at some point :)

Heres a pic of my hatch from the other night :)
