Tomini tang - bad shipper??

Ok, I've lost 2 of these in QT, and most of the ones i see in LFS's aren't in that great of shape.

Are these delecate shippers or something? Bad luck?

I've seen them in display tanks without issue... grrrr

IME they usually don't eat prepared foods at first. And holding tanks/QT lack the necessary micro/film algae and detritus that they do eat. They are often quite skinny too, at first... I think WetWebMedia also lists them as a difficult bristletooth....

Mine took two months to start eating anything substantial...

I bought one from an LFS a little over a month ago. It was in a tiny tank with no algae. It was shy at first and took a couple of days to start eating in my tank. He first went after sheets of Nori, and now takes pellet food, flake algae and frozen mysis. Don't know if I'm just lucky, but no problems so far.

another LFS has a big 6-7" one that's acting fine, I didn't want to get him because he's so big... but he's the fattest/healthiest looking one I've seen (except ones in display tanks that aren't for sale)

I really wanted a 4" one hmmm

I found mine at a LFS.
She was the smallest I'd seen: 2.5" She accepted mysis readily and was in really great shape and at a price of $35. ^.^
Didn't QT (not the smartest) her and she has been swimming and grazing around my tank readily eating all the food I put in, other than cyclopeeze. I think it is too small for her to know it is food.
She isn't fond of flake either but her favorite are Spectrum Pellets.
I've had her for one month exactly.
I know I was lucky. Good luck~
