Tomini tang feeding?

I got a tomini tang a 3 days ago. I've tried feeding it Julian Sprung green seaweed, Ocean nutrition formula 1 pellet & flakes but it's not eating. I've even soaked each of those in garlic. The only thing it is eating is the filamentous algae off my wall. Not even eating the hairy algae which I was hoping I would do.

I've texted the store which I bought it from but I'm still waiting for the reply.

its only been three days... those are pretty shy to begin with.... Did you try sticking food in the tank and walking away? with you standing there it might not come out to eat

Yup I've tried clipping the seaweed sheet on the algae scrubber and left it for only an hour. Didn't eat it. Should I have left it inside longer?

sounds like you did not Qt, might have some parasites and need to be treated. If this fish is health they will usually start eating right away. At least that has been my experience. Great little tangs

Oh, I didn't think I had to qt it, it was in the store's display tank for years. It "seems" healthy, the tank mates too. Their tank was decommissioned because they had to relocated the store, wasn't any sort of outbreak.

Btw, they replied NLS Thera A regular. Well gotta try that and hope it will eat it.

Not uncommon for it to not be eating yet as mentioned. My C. strigosus took at least a week to eat anything. And another two months before it touched nori.

i would try formula 2 and nls pellets as well. in my yellow tang case, as the last resort, i needed to put some caulerpa in my qt and it started eating!

Hooray! It's eating the NLS Thera A pellets. So now how do I train it to eat the nori and the other algae, I.e. Hairy algae(?), cheato. It only likes the film algae on the wall, which isn't a pest in my tank.

It likely will never eat macro algae growing your tank. Mine did not eat nori until it was in the DT and saw my Foxface and Wrasses devouring it. 3 months in QT and it never touched it once.
