Just curious if anyone has seen this, is this an just abrasion or something more sinister? On both sides of the fish, I just noticed it last night so I don't know how long it's been there, or if it's spreading/healing etc.
I dont think he's talking about the black spots on the fins..Almost all tominis have that. It looks like he has been flashing or someone in the tank has been picking on him
Doesnt take any abuse. No change in behavior, eats and poops like a horse.
Recently switched sleeping spots. The only thing I can think is that he scrapes himself at night while sleeping in his new cave, since tangs still move around when they sleep.
At first I thought it was septicemia creeping up from the tail like that, but it isn't internal.
I agree, looks more like a simple abrasion. I'd keep a close eye on things to make sure that a secondary infection does not occur. ANY erythema (reddening), oozing, ulceration, or signs of fungal infection (cotton-like growth) and you need to get that fish in QT immediately and tx with Marycin I and/or II, depending on the signs you see.
