Tonight, I caught my Emerald Mithrax...

...Crab eating the polyps off a Hydnophora. Anyone else have this problem? I assume it's because he and all the snails and hermits have devoured all the algae. I took my Sea Squirt and shot some Brine Shrimp into his face. Hopefully, that will keep him off the corals. I've just added fish to this tank so I think that will also create more for him to scavenge.

I had a pink mithrax that was fine until about his fifth molt. He suddenly developed HUGE arms, doubled in size, and decided that corals tasted wonderful. Within a day he chewed up a zoa frag, ripped up a lot of GSP and clearcut a section of Xenia. He was VERY well fed, and when he started snacking on coral I tried feeding him even more - whole shrimp, pieces of nori, caulerpa, mysis, he ate them all. Then moved on to another coral. Needless to say, he went back to the store. He was sold to a customer with a big FOWLR - I though that was perfect, he'd have a great home and wouldn't do any damage... then I ran into him a few months later, and he told me his trigger had eaten the crab. Poetic justice I guess :D
