Tonights meeting.

Hey C-Sea members.
Just wondering if anybody can give me the gist of tonight's meeting. I would have loved to be there but we just had to take advantage of the long weekend and go skiing in Vail, thanks. (not me but the passengers are going skiing)

Basically just a brief rundown on the ins and outs of the lighting industry and bulb tech, ending with a demo of what high powered LEDs can do even at low wattage, as well as talking about a new line of much more efficient MH lights his company has been designing for some of the retail brands. He also covered some of the myths and BS ratings on lights: things like the importance of reflectors, the misleading way some bulbs are labeled, etc.

LED systems really do look pretty ideal in terms of the tech specs, and if he really thinks we could see systems in the 500 range soon, instead of in the thousand dollar+ range they're at now, they'd be a pretty exciting development.

Also, I didn't know who Sanjay was, but apparently if I ask him, even he'd have told us the same things.

To all who missed the meeting... Tullio Dell Aquila did great presentation on lighting. I thought it was going to be all about LED lights, but he covered all the lighting in the hobby. I think it was good to hear from and to be able to talk to knowledgeable person who is in the R&D and manufacturing of marine hobby products and who is also just like us who enjoys the hobby.

It was one of the better meetings with a speaker that I've been to......I hope we have more speakers of this caliber.
Nice raffle too....
