Tono Wrasse info needed

I have a Tono wrasse on order. I was wondering if they can handle copper or cupramine (is what I use) and can I also treat with Prazi? I need any other info before the fish gets here next week. I have ran a fallow tank for 8 weeks so I would really hate to add any fish without Qt especially if there is a chance for disease. This fish is wild caught and not treated for anything according to Blue Zoo.

I would definitely treat with Prazipro. I would hold off on the copper unless you observe scratching behavior or white spots. I quarantine my wrasses without copper; however I always use Prazipro for flukes/deworming. I have never had a problem with ich being introduced to my display reef as long as I properly quarantine first. I don't know if it is advisable to use both treatments simultaneously but I wouldn't recommend it. That's why I recommend treating with copper only if necessary. Tono wrasses are not that common. I believe they are part of the C. rubripinnis group. Should be a great fish for you as long as you quarantine it. Good luck.

Make sure the fish you get is really a C. tonozukai, being that it is coming from Blue Zoo. Last year I ordered a tonozukai from them and they sent me a C. filamentosus instead. The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine a couple months after. Be careful, because they look very similar. One easy way to tell which one you got is by looking at the dorsal fin. On the tono's it will be multicolored, and for whipfins it is solid yellow.

I agree that you should definately treat with prazi, but I'd hold off on copper or cupramine. The last few wrasses I got from Blue Zoo were loaded with flukes so the prazi is a must.

You should also know that tono's wrasses are quite aggressive. Their behavior tends to be like the more common whipfin fairy which is very aggressive, IME. That said, they are really beautiful fish. You'll enjoy him!

OK,do they prefer a sand bottom to bury?

also, as for agression. I plan to put 1 in with a potters, a pair of clowns and a blue hippo tang, and possibly a McCosker's wrasse.

No sand is required. They sleep in the rocks.

The max size is about 3-4 inches.

They are only aggressive to other planktivores, IME. I think it would be a bad idea to add a McCosker's after the tonozukai is established. The tono's can get pretty aggressive with other wrasses and more peaceful species.

I sent Blue Zoo pictures of the fish I received. It took a while to convince them that I got the wrong fish, but they gave me my money back. They also let me keep the whipfin they accidentally sent. The whipfin was extremely aggressive after just a couple days in my tank and had to be removed.
