tons of algae but parameters are good??

a little update...

We took a couple of the rocks out and scrubbed them in some salt/ro water and put them back in the tank. Also, we scrobbed all the rocks that we didnt take out and tried to net as much as we could. But being dinos, most of it disintegrated. running the skimmer full time and its getting a lot of junk out. after a couple days they blooms are starting to return.

Reading up on how others treated the issue, ive seen where someone actually raised the nitrates and was successful? anyone heard of this.

Oh and on top of it all weve had a minor ich attach.... my luck..

Sorry to hear that. There's a long thread in the chemistry subforum about dinos. I would start reading there as it is packed with info from very advanced aquarists. Good luck!

The ich outbreak is probably because of all the taking out the rock disturbing the fish stressed them out reducing there slime coat.

Ok so an update. The dinos have died down tremendously. I havent done any water changes. My skimmer has been working ot and i can tell a difference. A recap to what weve done.

Removed some rocks and scrubbed off the dino algae. Tokk a toothbrush to the rest of the rock in the tank. Tried to net as much as possible. Added one dose of red slime remover. After a few days some dinos started to grow back but nowhere near as strong. Also noticed what looked like some red slime. So we dosed the tank again with the slime remover.

Also weve adjusted the lighting schedule. I have a two hour blackout period every night. Also the length of daylight time has been shortened by a few hours along wuth intensity changes. Ill post pictures of the current looks. Sorry about the microbubbles. Skimmer goes crazy when we add the slime remover.
