Ok so today has been an eventful day of reefing for me! Not only did I find my ammonia levels were at .50ppm(the cycle has started!!), my ph was at 8.1, which is solid from 7.9 a week ago at the same time of day.

And to top it all off, I was doing a little bit of spying tonight with the red filter and found a 3" bristle worm! (At least I think that's what it is)

I really hope it survives the cycle!! I've also seen copepods running around on the live rock. This has turned out to be a good chunk of rock I think!

Anyways, that's the latest news, its been about a week in the process now.

I'm pretty sure you'll have tons of bristleworms, pods, sponges etc. surfacing throughout the year. I got very excited looking at everything in the night when I first set up my tank. Just watch out for aiptasia and if you do spot some, when you have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrates I would add a couple of peppermint shrimps to eat them before you have to start feeding the tank and then they'll just scavenge for their food. Good luck with the cycling and take it slow!

My tank's been up for a few years and I still find new and exciting things in there. It's an incredible amount of biodiversity, and you won't stop marveling at it

After getting back into this hobby after a 15-20 year layoff, I had/have those same reactions. But what I find really cool is that now my wife and daughters react that way too. 4 addicts in one house... Woo hoo

When I point things out, the wife gets a kick out of seeing new things as well. She had the tank for 5 years and never knew what she had in it.
