Too LITTLE algae??

Hi RC,

I have an unusual question. I set up my 75g mixed tank and have had had my system setup and stable (ideal or acceptable perimeters) for about 5 months. I started my tank with acid washed Marco rock and Caribsea live sand. I did go through a very moderate diatom bloom but ever since then I haven't had hardly any algae at all. I have had a small amount of pods populate my system. I increased my lighting schedule to 10-12 hours per day with my dual a360w kessil's to help encourage some photosynthesis. Inhabitants are: a small amount of mixed coral, one maroon clown, one turbo snail, and three margarita snails. Still to this date I don't even have coralline growth and am having to supplement seaweed for my CUC.

I know algae growth is normally discouraged, but shouldn't I have SOME algae growth?

all depends on your maintenance routine, you keep the nitrates and phosphates low and you won't get much if any for algae

I agree with Shifty.... Please do not knock on wood. the Algae blooms can hit you me swifty or anyone at any time when things decide to go wacked .

When you see people say that algae is NORMAL and will go away if you keep on track with maintenance. This does not mean Everyone gets it..

My Reset when i upgraded to the 7 foot tank i got NO Unwanted anything. But i was on top of things expecting it...

I Think your doing good for the information your provided.... Keep up the good work..
