Is there such a thing with sps corals.

I plan to get a mp10 for my 17.4 48inx9.5x9.5 tank. but intill thenI will be using a massive 1650 propellor powerhead. So my question is simply is this too much ?
I don't think i will be able to keep any sand at the bottom. Lol it might even move a 2lb peice of liverock LOL. But on a seroius note is there a too much?

Here's a picture of the monster in tank. it's size is a bit riduclous. But the cost of a damn mp10 would be nice to have a doser and skimmer for the price.

Try to position it in a way where it works with your LR aim it high facing toward the front glass without pushing water out of the tank. You may want to avoid sand in the beginning. Truth is, you'll always be better off researching and purchasing the right equipment from the beginning. Vortex is a great brand that will save you a lot of headaches, not to mention resale value if you decide to upgrade.

The vortech is much less centered than the fan style, they have a very direct flow which you don't want. A broad strong irregular flow is best and that's all possible with a vortech

Honestly, I think a vortech is a poor choice for your tank. Vortechs produce a wide flow that does not travel long distances. You have a narrow and long tank. It will be impossible to keep any sand near the pump and you will not get good flow at the other end of the tank. You will also likely have to reduce the flow to keep water from spilling out of the tank near the pump. Plus, any rockwork will impede the flow more and you will get even less flow at the other end.

I think you are better off running multiple, less powerful pumps to give you flow throughout the whole tank. I might also consider running a closed loop in such a tank.

I tested the tank today and it boils water low in the tank but doesn't spill out. I have a video but I'm now in bed and it's been a long day but no leaks and it pushs water hard to the other side of the tank this should great for my all sps tank. Slitghly rediuclous i would say.
