Too Much Heat Buildup ???

I have a 22 gal tank very similar to a NC24DX ... in the rear section I have a stock return pump (no idea on make or output) and a BakPak2R with an MJ1200. I want to replace the stock pump with another MJ1200 and possibly add ANOTHER MJ1200 to another return using a Hydor FLO.

Do you think with 3 MJ1200s in the back my temps will become a prob?

Right now I have been spiking to 83 during the day (tank has no heater) but the room is getting warm (no AC yet) - on a nice cool day I am stable at 79 ... I will be adding a fan to the room tonite to help with the temps.

I have a feeling the stock return pump isnt the best of quality and is creating alot of the heat but I cant be sure of that right now

Any other solutions to adding more flow?

Without the AC, your amibient air temperature will not allow the thank to cool without using a chiller. I would try to use some sort of fan to get some air movement accross the top of the water so that you can at least get some cooling via evaporative cooling. I have three MJ 1200's in my 10 gal, but with my AC keep the room temp around 74, and a fan blowing accross the top of the water, I can easily keep the temp around 76.

My NC 24 has the stock pump and an MJ1200. When I protein skim with my AquaC Remora, which has another MJ1200 on it, my temps don't rise. My tank temp keeps a steady 81.5-82.7. If there is a heat culprit, IMO it is probably the stock pump. SH
