too much light for a clam?

If a purchase 2 250 watt metal halide lighting for a 55 gallon will it be too much and require a chiller?


will the clam like that much light and if too much what other lighting will work

clams will be fine under that light. who knows if you will need a chiller, its a try it and see kinda thing

i needed a chiller with my 90 gal and a sunpod 2 x 250 watt mh.
the tank temps kept going up and up. 88 at one point. ikt was either a chiller or i was good with no top on the tank, my sump is under the tank so i had to open that space and turn on a fan pointed at the tank and sump area. i just felt the chiller was easier.
