I have a 105gallon that measures 48 x 18 x 29 deep. Would three 400 watt se using 20k bulbs be to much light for this tank?

I think its overkill. 2-250w would be enough. With 3 or even 2 400w over that tank its going to get super hot. You will need some serious fans.

Well I have two 400 right now over the tank and I already have the third 400 watt ballast in my closet. I was just wondering if it would just be a horrible idea. I have a chiller that works awesome, I was just getting other thoughts about doing this.

i dont think it is too much light as long as you have a way to keep the tank from over heating.

I guess if you already have a chiller heat wouldn't be an issue.
Why are you considering adding another light? Do you feel you need it to get better growth?
Do you have a pic of the tank? That would help people be able to judge whether you need more or not. How high above the tank are they?
With that much light I might get concerned with excess algae. How long do you run them for?
