Took my old sump off; should I keep the life?

So last night I removed my sump from my old system and moved the heater, PH probe and temp probe to the main tank. In the bottom of the sump was a lot of life, pods, worms and some other stuff moving. But there is a bit of detritus. So should i dump all the water or try to keep the life in the sump and put it in the new tank? I don't want to dirty up the new tank.

PS: To all who said they would let me barrow a skimmer just wanted to say thanks but I don't need it now.

IMHNO ( in my humble nonprofessional opionion) I would keep it all, maybe a quick rinse with RO as I believe it would assist your new tank in going through any cycles. That being said if you don't want it I would love it as I am still going through a new tank syndrome. As long as it is still heated it should be fine.

if you do keep the "life" dont rinse in straight ro! freshwater will obviously kill everything. i think craig meant fresh saltwater.

Thanks Jake for catching that. I am running around mixing water to do a water change right now actually.

Would you keep the stuff as well?

Craig you can have it if you want you can come by at 6. I have a 5 gal it can go in if you want. I need to clean it out ot use as my fuge on my new tank. But warning it is a bit dirty water.....up to you

Do you think anything is still alive...did you keep it heated or pump running. I wil come and check it out tonight I will bring a bucket as you might need them for your new tank. Plus I get a chance to see the reef room!!

no heater but it's indide the house so it can't drop too much, i can see a few bristle worms moving around.
