top brace?

I have seen some nasty looking bowing tanks in threads here before. Heard of a few bursting over the years too i believe.

id say bad bad idea unless your going to eurobrace afterwards

my 46 center brace broke and i got like a 1/4 inch maybe, but kept it running for a bit then got scared and took her down i wouldnt want 125 gallons on the floor

Dont cut it I lost a 125g because just one of the braces was broke and I kept telling myself I will fix it tommorow and a very wet tommorow came !!

I have seen lots of people cut the braces off and replace them with thick acrylic pieces bolted on with vinyl nuts and bolts. Just make sure the lights are not too close to the acrylic, as they could melt the brace.

If you are doing this to a full tank....you could use clamps to keep bowing from occuring while working.....
