Top down pics! (image intensive.. duh)

Ok Gasman gave me ga.. er inspiration! I made a neat little top down shooter ghetto style and took a few pictures... right before my lights went off *pooh*

Here's what I did in the DIY forum
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1130734

Now I didn't take pictures of everything, just a few neat little gems that I thought looked snazzy from the top. I did reduce the size considerably from 6MP to what you see here, I really liked the larger sized ones too since they gave so much detail.

This is a little guy I picked up recently, btw... there is no actinic and this is under a 10000k bulb look at the way those polyps glow!!!

Tri-color? Pfffbt, try QUAD COLOR! Purplish/blue tips (and I only count that as one color :)), yellow base (and that's yellow not faded brown), green highlights, oh yah the polyps are cream colored. The Bali tricolor (as cool of a coral as it is) counts brown as a color in it.. *snicker* (btw I'm not trying to be arrogant here, I'm just poking a little fun :)).

I love this blue millipora, was a maricultured piece that came in, although this is really high in the tank.. and unfortunately got a bit over saturated in the shot. :(

A couple more milliporas, one a teal blue with reddish polyps, the other a very light pink, with green tips

part 2.

How's this for a tort! This isn't a piece that recently came in faded, it 's been in here a few months and it's stuck to this color... mmmm tasty! This is Mike's Tort <-- (official name should it go LE :D)

WAPOW!!!!! (sorry that's all I got for this one)

Pinstripes and Purple highlights.. Pimptastic Acro! (ok I'm really reaching now.. )

Ok, and some Pocciliporas so you don't think I'm only about the acros.

If i get inspired tomorrow I may take more

Yeah that ain't gonna happen... simply because I've found out the lovely joy of how easily acrylic scratches and how much those scratches stand out when alkalinity (or calcium) precipitates right into the scratch. I'm currently waiting on a micromesh kit to see if I can't fix them... that or build a glass tank and go that route :)

That and it's not nothing to write home to mom about, the tank is by no means grown in.

Ok I was going to take some more... then I see my stupid camera tell me my battery is empty... I swear it goes from that little icon of a full battery to nothing, there should be a much tighter representation of the battery life remaining.. I dunno how about a percentage number?

Anyways by the time they're charged up, lights will be out.. better luck tomorrow :D

Batteries were charged in time! Unfortunately I screwed up my little shooter capsule when a finger with super glue touched the acrylic... right in the center *Grumble*.. anyways, back to the drawing board.. but I did manage to take a few more pictures.

Someone wanted pocillipora? Here's another strain that's really close to the other two pictured above, in fact was right next to them but a cleaning mishap knocked it down, I left it there and it I haven't whacked it since.. it'll eventually grow up into the others as well it's only about 3-4 inches away.

Here's a shot of the blue mille that is over exposed in one of the pics above, it's really from the same colony, under the same light, one is maybe a few inches lower, and this one is mounted vertically while the other was mounted on the side of the rock, just wanted to see what different growth patterns would occur.

Here's a nice little digitata farm here I wanted to crowd together, I have two other color morphs I want to cram in there as well, one a orange base/green polyped one (which doesn't seem to want to stay where I put it!) Anyone see that blue mille?? Yeah.. bad planning on my part, oh well plenty of frags to give away if anything gets too close :)
digistz3.jpg

The other is this, a light blue polyped digi which did nice to encrust to the rock I put it on, however the rock won't fricking stick to any other rock work I put it on.. something always knocks it over! I've tried gel, I've tried epoxy.. nothing works! So I decided the bottom of the tank works for now until I get enough gumption together to make another attempt to glue it.

A nice sized colony of pink birdsnest that came from twigs a couple years back

A nice little Ponape birdsnest neat color pattern to it.

This is what happens when you have a coral that is growing nearly perfectly vertically and you take a top down picture... NAME THAT CORAL!

Well rather than keep making new messages trying to kick start the "Top Down" movement, I'll just spam up my own thread I started :D

I just took these within the hour, have a detailed description of what I used with pictures in the above link in the DIY section too if you're curious.

Here's some green, I hope a Tenius and a Yongei will get along *eeep* they're really close now. Ordinarily I'd yank the slimer, but come on, look at that green on it! Although I can't for the life of me figure out why it wants to grow horizontal, it's not like there's a pump behind it.

Gah.. a little too trigger happy on the post button.

This is what happens when you mount a stick on it's side, it usually puddles first, then branches off in multiple directions at once... more frags for all!
aamillieps6.jpg

Another millie, Nathan's Green and a Red.. they really don't like being that high in the tank.
aamillie2rw2.jpg

A better shot of my pink & green millie (amongst other things)
aamillie3rs2.jpg

And not just about the acros, here's some montiporas
aamontife9.jpg

And a pocilipora (the thick kind), I've been having problems with that red poof algae lately, more so in my sunlit frag growout (connected) need to find something that can eat it!
aapocjt6.jpg

Red Prostrada
aaprosjv2.jpg

And my "Hey brown is a so a color, tri-color" purple tips, brown base, green polyps. The sole reason I like this coral is because it is a nice large specimen
aapurpletipkz9.jpg

That's all for now

Wow! Really nice. Very light and delicate colors. Do you run Zeo or something similar?
