Top Fathom skimmers?...

Kur

Since I'm new to marine aquarium keeping, I am still not very knowledgeable on what brands to seek and what brands to avoid.

That being said, I have the opportunity to buy a used top fathom skimmer (pump not included) for $75.

Don't know what size it is though I am assured that it would be large enough for a 150g aquarium.

Is it a good skimmer? Good price? Easy to use or finicky?

Need some answers A.S.A.P. as I need to buy a skimmer this weekend.

Thanks for the help!

Unless there is a new version this is an old school skimmer. The pumps can be pretty costly.

I would pass if it were my choice.

If you can afford it look at a new MSX, Octopus or Vertex IN series. These are some of the better budget friendly skimmers.

I am on a pretty limited budget. I was hoping to only spend $100-$150 total for a skimmer/pump, but I was thinking MAYBE I could push it to $200.

Also, I need to be sure it will fit in my sump...

I don't really care if it is old school, as long as it works.

I believe this is a better choice and still in your budget.

MSO Needlewheel 150 with Funnel Neck @ $155.99

If you can spend a little more .... MSX160 @ $269.99

If you watch the classifieds on this site or local club you can get a great deal. I bought a used a EuroReef RS 135 that I really like and it was in the range you want to spend.
