Top-off Compoent or System Group Buy?

The switches for my the top-off system I bought from somebody have gone bad again and I am going to rebuild it totally this time. I was thinking to buy two of the $6.99 switches from AquaHub -- but shipping for just about any order would be around $8.

So, if anybody wants some top-off items from this site and would like to split the approximatly $8 shipping by the number of people in the order, let me know. We have to get to $100, though, for the order to have free shipping.

If you would like some help with making your own auto-topoff, now would be the time to order stuff. I could help you put it together around the time of the November meeting (which is about 1 mile from my house).

I need an ATO setup, but don't have time to look it over now. You can probably count me in, unless their prices are crap or something like that.

I would love to get a proper ATO, but controller prices are SO high and I would rather spend that cash on fish or corals. I tried using a bilge pump but it was so strong that it clouded my water for an hour each time it kicked on.

I think by the time I finished mine, I paid about $50 (pump included). I also used three float switches on that one, too -- one switch for on (LO level), one switch for off (HI level), and one backup off switch in case the HI fails (HI-HI level). The 12V wall-wart allowed me to put low-voltage DC through the switches. I used the relay to switch the 120VAC power and the receptacle tied into the relay outputs so I could use two pumps if needed (one recirc and one top-off.

I posted the build on RC here.

I have a Tunze Osmolater that doesn't work. If any one would like to try and fix or use parts you can have it. The Tunze rep said I could send it to him to look at and LMK if it can be fixed , but I can't be bothered. My JBJ ATO is working perfectly now.

I may take you up on this offer. I found the moldable switch bracket on their website which would solve my issue with the space on top of the sump. If you haven't ordered your parts yet I'll add mine to yours. If not I will order tomorrow night to make sure they're here in time. Also, would you recommend the Aquahub switch or the Chicago Sensor switch?

You can have it Devin. I have no idea what those switches are??? The Tunze and JBJ's are "plug and play" thingys, no extra switches needed, that I know of.

I had not ordered yet and have almost let this order slide. I still need the switches, though. If somebody is really serious, post or PM what you'd like your setup to do and I'll make out a parts list for you. If I can get a few people in on this, it would be nice to split the shipping.

Devin, even if nobody else is in, I need two of the switches. I do not know anything about teh Chicago sensors. I've been using the Aquahub and they fit inside my piece of PVC I use to keep the crud off of them.

Oh, sorry, I meant that for Scott. He was ordering the float switches from Aquahub and I was going to add mine to his order if he hadn't already placed the order. I was going to order my parts and let him build it at the meeting so we can have another topic and i wont be able to screw it up. I work with electronics a lot but never with relays and 110V, so I'd prefer to have some insight from someone who has done the work before.

Although, I would be happy to look at your controller. Electronics are my thing, but no promises. If I can get it working I will return it to you.

Wow, I completely missed your post, Scott. I will place the order and pay for the shipping since you're going to help with the build. Following your actual build thread I would only need a few items from Home Depot to have all the parts.

I would like to do a 3 switch like the system you have in your build thread. Lo, hi, and a hi-hi switch for a backup.
