I was reading today and came across an article about the endangered Napoleon wrasse. Which also goes by many other names including the hump head wrasse. It is the largest member in the wrasse family. These guys can dwarf a diver at maturity. I have found pictures of adult specimens and they are quite impressive. It is found in the Redsea and indo pacific oceans . This animal is an endangered species and is sought after for its meat. It is considered a delicacy in many countries and is traded live. It is unfortunate that this animal is being pushed towards the brink of Extinction

Better melts in your mouth.

Better melts in your mouth.

Its incredible which in turn has probably doomed it.

and they are eaten at that size? you would think it would be full of worms.

I will have to re read the article but I think they reach a length of 2 meters +. But there are bigger fish than that

This is another weird giant fish. The Mola Mola or ocean sunfish. I was reading an article where a massive tanker impaled a large specimen of Mola Mola on her bow and the fish was so large it slowed the tankers speed by 10+ knots.

Yes they get huge!!!!

229 cm long, up to 191 kilo's I saw one at the fish market in Guam that had to go at least 100 kilo.

Dang the names of these fish are too much! I can see me now asking John at Atlantis for a hump head. It's bad enough I asked for a cleaner wrasse and then was talking about my large hippo, while purchasing a swallow tail :mixed: Geez it's like a porn aquarium I am running here. haha, Carrie

I see Mola Molas diving offshore Jax all the time....they are quite inquisitive fish and an impressive sight in person. I've had a couple that wouldn't get off of me at all, literally I have to push them off of me sometimes. They also like to jump out of the water and I've had some almost land on my boat....that would not be good :) Very cool fish to see in person.
