Topic: SEIO Pumps

Has anyone used the Seio pumps yet? I am thinking about buying one because of the low wattage and high flow. I am having trouble figuring out my current/flow setup in my tank and I need advice. I am looking to add 2 Seio 1100 for my 180. I would get the tunze but they are a bit too expensive. I know itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a rio too but I never had a rio issue

I have 2 SEIO m820's in my 55G. Never had any problems at all.

The RIO's had the oil leak mess a while back but the "+" series eliminated that.

In a 180, 2 1500's would be great flow.

Should I put them on the back wall of the tank facing the front glass or on the sides of the tank facing each other? These pumps have the "wide flow" like the tunze right? I am trying to avoid high direct flow

I keep mine on the ends facing each other. This causes them to "collide" and disperse the flow.

Using this method I have some low flow zones, Medium flow zones and in direct path of the 820's....High flow zones.

I guess this is what I am looking for in terms of flow. Will the seios have the same wide flow as the tunze?

I've got two 1500's in my 90 gallon tank. I like the flow and the price, but that's about it. I hate the suction cups (I know, nobody uses them any more. Everybody else uses magnets...) and the heat produced. I wish there was a way to control them on a wavemaker similar to Tunze, but I don't think that rumor will ever come to fruition. I think the worst part about them is their size. They really take up a lot of room in my tank. Aesthtically, very ugly. I'm working on a plan to remove them now.

With that being said, it's hard to beat them at that particular price point.

do you want to sell them?

don't they come with another mount for the side of the tank? How much heat are we talking here? I thought they were low watt pumps

They do have the wide flow dispersion like the Tunze. Mine are mounted "Tunze Style" and I use the Suction cups....for now. I plan to mod the hang over the side mounts they come with to work "Tunze Style" soon and get the suction cups out.

are you having heat issues w/ these pumps also?

I can't say I have noticed any. I don't turn them off long enough to tell. My temps stay between 80-82F and the heater is almost never on.

did you set them up like the tunze or how the pump looks on the box?

"Tunze Style"

There is a mounting modification on Reef Central somewhere that works well. I liked them, but recently switched to Sea Swirls. They produced a good, broad flow at low wattage. Bioreef has them on sale right now. I used an 820 and a 620. I would recommend atleast the 820. I think the wattage increases quite a bit when you go to the 1100. I mounted mine in the front corners.

Hey Steve, I use them...I think they rock....I have one that is totally and completely coated in nasty algae and it starts right up when I unplug it or when the power goes out or whatever....Now that I've plugged the seio, I have one for sale ;)

1100 model. I bought it used from a guy on nano-reef for $35. It was new for him and it's still basically new. He tryed it on his tank and it was too much and it ended up being too much for mu 40g. I'm asking the same I got it for $35. It was in my tank for maybe an hour....

let me know
Jamey

p.s. I also have a 600 on my tank (the model covered in algae)
