No, never. John at Bioreef runs his on a wavemaker, although Seio doesn't recommend it.

I think John told me last week took he them off the wavemaker because it was giving the powerhead problems with startup. I don't know of anybody that has had luck with them on a wavemaker for an extended period. I know I wouldn't be able to stand the chatter at start-up while watching TV or trying to sleep. It wasn't so noticeable in the store, though.

If you still have it in a few weeks I will get it. I just got 2 1500's on my lunch break and I love them

Sweet! I bet those will work really well in the 180.

I think with how much rock you have you should be able to easily hide them with a regular rock formation.

So for now you used the hangar option to mount them?

Don't forget (unless you already have) to look on RC for pics & description on how to mount the pump tunze style.

I got m1500 and m820 facing each other and controlled by a neptune pro wavemaker that turns on the seios for 10min and then off 10min, then repeat. I have it in this setup for almost 4 months now with out any restarting problem.

i used a seio 800 and the only problem i had with it was this. If the power went out or you had to unplug it, the damn thing wouldn't start spinning again unless you completely took it up and started it back up while it was plugged in. You def can't run them on any sort of wave device.

you are one of the lucky few that your seios haven't broke from doing that or that they actually restart.

the issue you are all talking about falls under quality control which Is what tamm is known for and not in the good way. Its a hit or miss with them

I even got them installed w/o the rubber suction cups

Do you think I can hide them w/ a tunze rock?

How did you end up mounting them?

has anyone read their directions for the pumps?

It says WEEKLY maintenance required. Maybe if you do not keep up on the maintenance you get the start up problem. Just one more thing to keep my busy is all I need

I've had an 820 going for about a year with zero maintenence...
I think that's more of a CYA for them...
I finally took mine apart/cleaned it last weekend, really wasn't too dirty inside...

I bet most pump directions say that Steve. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe whenever you do a water change pop them out and clean them. They are pretty easy to clean. When I went over to Steve's the other day to get that tub I bought an 820 from him.
