hi

can you use bottled distilled water to top off your tank
or what is recommended??
i do not have a ro unit or can afford one at this time
thanks in advance

Most distilled water is probably okay. It's more risk than your own filter, though, since there's no way to know how it's been stored, etc, since the distilling. I've measured some fairly dirty (by reef standards) distilled water parameters.

you cant afford to NOT have one.

I think they should make you buy an ro unit before they sell you a tank. Would you bring home a new puppy and give him water from the toilet? Then why spend all that money on tank equipment and all and then put crappy water in the tank.

Grovery stores in my part of the country carry it...just read the labels carefully...look for the "no name" stuff...

frank2926...

I love your signature... "But honey I already have all the equipment and supplies I need .....All I have to buy is the bigger tank"

I just told my wife it and you should have seen the look I received from across the room.

you got a point alright i get one:) maybe tomorrow

does it matter on brand i have seen kent ro units
there probably all the same??

The brands differ in quality. The Kent unit I have is fine, although airwaterice.com has some models that are said to be just as good, and less expensive.

There's nothing wrong with topping off with bottled distilled water. I've been topping off with Walgreens distilled water for a year. It's been steam distilled, micronfiltered, and ozonated.
