Torch Back to Life?

Hey RC, purchased a Torch Coral about 3 weeks ago and placed it in the tank. Over the course of a week or two noticed some of the heads were dying (after testing parameters I came to the conclusion the light source was probably not strong enough to keep LPS in the tank). Recently purchased a reefbreeders photon 48 and have noticed the right side of the coral is doing better than ever, but still no signs of growth on the left side.

Is there any chance the heads can grow back? If so, usually how long does it take?

I don't think it will regrow on the dead heads.. but new heads will form eventually..

for me it's been a long time. My hammer has grown 2-3 heads within 5 months. Nothing on the torch. I lost 2/4 heads during a bad water period.. Torch are always first to die.

My 2 torches have been the slowest growers of all my euphyllias.

sometimes LPS heads can make a comeback, if there is any tissue left on it, it is a possibility. once the place where the polyp used to be starts growing algae though, it is generally a done deal.

this is reasonably true for a lot of stony corals, even SPS like acros. if there is even a tiny bit of living tissue left, it is possible, given the right conditions, for the coral to make a come back. so i generally let anything i think is dead sit in the tank for a while, until it starts growing algae or is very definitively no more.

Great information, thank you. Yes you are correct, that head certainly has some tissue left and has not grown any algae yet. Hoping it makes a comeback!
