Torch Coral Euphyllia help

Are these corals prone to infections and what not??

I bought a 2 headed torch. 1 head died within a few days the other survived. 4 months later I have 2 heads.

Recently this greyish almost sponge looking thing has been growing around the part of 1 of the coral heads where the flesh meets the branching skeleton. It seems to be encroaching on the flesh and disturbing the coral although the tentacles still extend. Still it seems irritated. Today the tentacles retracted for a couple hours squirting out brown stringy goo. Then it extended again...

Any ideas guys?

I have that sponge too. It hasn't been that close to heads though. You can try to cut it back, but I wouldn't worry about it.

my parameters are always at optimum standards as far as ph nitrate phosphate nitrite ammonia. I dont test for magnesium calcium or alkalinity (carbonate hardness one in the sames as alk?) because i got a 20 gal long with not a rediculous amount of coral. I do 10 percent water change every two weeks. Aquaclear 20 filter 2 aquaclear powerheads, coralife lunarlight 4 t5 ho bulbs. Im workin on pictures. Cjk u the man

Really need to test mg ca alk. You could honestly just get it tested at a store because once you get your levels up they tend to stay fairly stable unless you have a demanding system.
